In Lexington and Midway Kentucky, Bluegrass Distillers owned by Sam Rock and Ben Franzini, was set out to create a true craft distillery to create an experience that focuses on locally grown corn variety while giving back to their community. Launching their wheated and rye bourbon recipes earned them several awards such as the Gold medal in 2021 and Double Platinum in 2022 in the ASCOT awards. Bluegrass continued their journey as they expanded to their second location in Midway where they’ll be able to produce and grow their own blue and yellow corn. Distributing in 12 states and online sales in 40 states, this is only the beginning for this craft distillery.
- Bluegrass Distillers was founded in 2012 in Lexington, Ky., and expanded in 2023 to a larger,
newly constructed distillery in nearby Midway, Ky. - Bluegrass Distillers first launched a High-Rye Small Batch Bourbon and Wheated Bourbon,
followed by a Blue Corn Bourbon and various special releases within each of those categories.
Each of these releases has won numerous awards in the industry. - The new distillery now has the capacity to produce more than 20,000 barrels per year.
